Diane Ravitch, a professor of philosophy at New York University, explains why all education is worthwhile. We need to take an honest look in order to see what is valuable and what is not.
The main focus of our studies is on the cognitive abilities of students. It’s our call to do our work better, to take out some more. We’re not doing anything that’s right, we’re just doing our work better. We should do better, not worse.
This is not a new idea, but Ravitch takes it a step further and proposes that we are doing our work better by ignoring the negative aspects of society. We need to look at the negative aspects and work against them, not the positive aspects.
This is also one of the things I like about Ravitch. Unlike many other psychology professors, she has a strong belief in the positive aspects of society. She is able to ignore the negative aspects and work against them and it makes her more effective.
As Ravitch points out, the people you’re in charge of should not be doing your work, but rather the people actually doing it. It’s a very simple idea, we should all be working against the negative aspects of society, not the positive.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t go to college to work in a cubicle. I’m just as happy to sit at a desk as I am to sit at a bench. But Ravitch goes about it in a way that makes it clear that she is more interested in the positive aspects of our society. She wants to make sure that the people who are actually doing the work will be more effective than the people who are just doing it.
