Ohio State University has a graduation rate that is 3% higher than the national average. With that in mind, the report cards are a great way to see where all the student growth is. Just as college has become a “time out” for many students to get their education before they graduate, so too is graduation. Ohio State is an excellent example of how to improve graduation rates.
They have a lot of programs in place which help with graduation rates, but the most obvious one is the OUSD “graduation-free” graduation rates. Essentially, they are giving out their own form of college “red tape”. That red tape, of course, is a huge benefit, because it helps students get their education before they graduate. You find all sorts of different ways to improve graduation rates, but the OUSD is one of the easiest to implement.
The OUSD graduation-free policies are a great example of a new way of thinking about education. The idea is that you can teach students good habits about getting their education, which is good, but they are also teaching them to get their education from somewhere other than the state, which is also good. In other words, they’re teaching students to think about getting their education in a new way.
It means that the state of education is a good thing, as students learn to do better. But the policy is also great because it gives students a way to be responsible about their own education, and not just to get it from the state.
When we talk about schools in Ohio, we often refer to the number of students in a given class. What we often don’t talk about is the number of students who are actually in the same class at the same time. When that happens, we have an issue. We’re not talking about how many students are there, we’re talking about how many students are there at the same time.
This is one of those things where we are talking about a bunch of students in the same class, but the students in the same class are not all the same. In fact, they’re not often the same, and many times are in different classes. In general, we dont want students to be able to just check off “I am finished with my education” and move on.
