The history of infectious disease in America is a fascinating one. It’s hard to know what is true in all of the reports of outbreaks of disease. Some of the stories are simply unbelievable, while others are far more believable than others. I’m not going to tell you about the flu because it really doesn’t happen anymore. Flu epidemics are pretty much a thing of the past. In contrast, the history of community health is a lot more complicated.
