Mental illness awareness week is a week-long series of events that will be held throughout the month of October. The first one was held in the early part of August. At it’s heart, the idea is to encourage mental health awareness, promote support, and to remind people that mental health is a priority. People can learn about their rights and take action to make their lives better.

The first day of Mental Illness Awareness Week was a free event, and that may have been the best free day I’ve had in my entire life, until today.
I was at the event and I was completely stunned as I watched the whole thing happen. So many people were there, many of them doing what is very normal for the majority of us: drinking, partying, talking, having sex, smoking weed, and having very graphic sex. Then I saw two people who looked to be mentally ill walk up to a group of people and say something to them and then walk away. I was speechless.
It turns out that a few days ago, the team that works on the game had a meeting and discussed the possibility of an in-game event that would have people walk up and say something to people they had already talked to about their mental illness. They decided to make an event that would be more general and include people who had very specific problems. So they called a series of events and now the event is every Wednesday at 4PM Pacific.
The event is a pretty good idea. It’s a lot of fun to talk about what a specific problem is like and have people walk up to say it. Unfortunately the event was cancelled due to time constraints. In the meantime, maybe we can all take a little bit of time to think about what we can say to each other.
Mental illness awareness week was started in 2001 by a couple of mental health professionals. They wanted to create a place where people could come and share their experiences, and then share their opinions. And they also wanted to make sure that people who had issues with mental health weren’t being ignored. And in 2006, they decided to invite the public to the event. The event is now in its fourth year and is held every Wednesday.
Mental illness awareness week is a yearly event of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. It was started in 2001 because people feel uncomfortable sharing their experiences about mental health. People who don’t talk about their mental health experiences with their families, friends, and work colleagues might feel embarrassed. And then they might feel like they are being left out, or they might feel like they aren’t doing enough to help.
A good idea for this week would be to meet up with a buddy and go to a local mental health awareness event. I would recommend the annual conference held by the American Psychiatric Association, who has the largest and most representative collection of psychologists in the country. This is a good example of how a mental health awareness event should be.
I am in! I have been attending the annual conference for the past five years and now I feel like I am finally in my element. The atmosphere is so laid back and non-judgmental that it feels like a social event. The whole thing is like a friendly group of people who want to help people. It’s a great place to meet people from all over the world who are interested in mental health.
